The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest action-packed instalment that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and mayhem with equal glee, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two producers whose work have exemplified all of those things.
Show Details
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by featuring a fresh setting and ensemble in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant trust and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style program. Each game is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the core of people through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our common unconventional, visionary style to the audience.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
